Mentoring Opportunities

A guest post by ASPRS Young Professional’s Council member, Ryan Bowe

Do you have a question about the next step in your photogrammetry, remote sensing or geospatial career? Take advantage of the ASPRS Young Professional Council’s (YPC) Mentoring program by signing up to be a mentee.  We have excellent mentors waiting to share their expertise in order to help you!

Once you fill out the forms, the YPC will match you with a mentor and you can begin talking to each other.  We provide a guideline Mentoring Agreement Form for the mentor and mentee to fill out together, but the rest is up to you and your mentor.

Still not sold on the idea of speaking to a mentor? The program, although still in the beta phase, has made several successful mentoring relationships.  The mentees who have taken the time to contact their mentors have reported they have grown their professional network and now have a confidant to whom they are comfortable turning with career questions.  It never hurts to have an ally!

Professionals interested in giving back to emerging professionals are also encouraged to sign up as mentors.  If you have any questions about the ASPRS YPC Mentoring Program, are interested in shaping the mentoring program as a volunteer, or have suggestions please do not hesitate to contact Ryan Elizabeth Bowe, GISP at geospatialmetadata@gmail.com.
